That\u2019s a magic number; it\u2019s the resolution of most inexpensive laser printers, and will make reading on e-ink mostly indistinguishable from reading b\/w paper. <\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wired.com\/2015\/07\/physics-behind-no-stick-ketchup-mayo-bottles\/\" target=\"_blank\">The physics behind those new \u201cno-stick\u201d ketchup and mayonnaise bottles<\/a>. <\/li>\n<li>Egad: <a href=\"http:\/\/jama.jamanetwork.com\/article.aspx?articleid=2338262&amp;utm_content=buffer5496c&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=twitter.com&amp;utm_campaign=buffer\" target=\"_blank\">The 2015 USDA Dietary Guidelines has omitted cholesterol from its list of \u201cnutrients of concern\u201d and eliminated its upper limit on total fat consumption<\/a>. It comes to 0.6 cents. For a 500-page novel (again, remember that Amazon defines what a page is, and the algorithm is still unclear) an author realizes $3.00. That\u2019s actually a good chunk more that what the author would get for a $2.99 sale, and fairly close to the author payout for a $3.99 sale. <\/li>\n<li>More on author earnings: <a href=\"http:\/\/authorearnings.com\/report\/may-2015-author-earnings-report\/\" target=\"_blank\">Agency pricing for ebooks, which large publishers fought so hard for, looks like it\u2019s being a disaster for them<\/a>. Higher prices have meant lower sales; in fact, Big 5 ebook unit sales were down 17% in the first four months of 2015. <\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/authorearnings.com\/report\/january-2015-author-earnings-report\/\" target=\"_blank\">30% of ebooks sold in the US do not have ISBNs, and this seriously distorts industry reporting on ebook sales<\/a>. Conventional industry metrics don\u2019t count ebooks without ISBNs. I have lots of ISBNs and intend to use them\u2014hey, they\u2019re paid for\u2014but this makes me wonder if it really matters. <\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/iheartintelligence.com\/2015\/06\/07\/23-new-words-for-emotions-that-we-all-feel-but-cant-explain\/\" target=\"_blank\">23 newly coined words for emotions that we feel but can\u2019t describe<\/a>.
