That would explain a lot; Europe has certainly led the world in marijuana tolerance. Here, however, green crosses have clearly become culural icons for the medical marijuana industry.<\/li>\n<li>Here&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/bobtisdale.blogspot.com\/2010\/08\/introduction-to-enso-amo-and-pdo-part-1.html\">a very nice introduction<\/a> to the meteorology behind the El Nino and La Nina Pacific weather events.<\/li>\n<li>From the Epic Failure of Imagination Department: I&#8217;m holding out for STORMY, MACS, Laura, Launce, CardShark #17, and Sangruse V9&#8230;but <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2010\/09\/01\/opinion\/01gibson.html?_r=3&amp;ref=todayspaper\">William Gibson is throwing in the towel and settling for Google<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>The <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Fine-structure_constant\">fine structure constant<\/a>, which governs the strength of electromagnetic interaction (and thus many properties of matter, including important things like star formation) <a href=\"http:\/\/www.technologyreview.com\/blog\/arxiv\/25673\/\">may not be constant across the entire cosmos<\/a>. We should be lucky that we&#8217;re here, because if we were somewhere else we might not be possible. (Thanks to Frank Glover for the link.)<\/li>\n<li>Sheer marketing brilliance: A small brewer is <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.makezine.com\/archive\/2010\/09\/beer_bottles_with_tuning_levels_pri.html\">printing a level indicator on his beer bottle labels<\/a> so that you know how far to fill the bottle with water (or leave it filled with beer) to generate a given musical tone when you blow across the top.<\/li>\n<li>I am much impressed with <a href=\"http:\/\/arstechnica.com\/gadgets\/news\/2010\/09\/samsung-announces-galaxy-tab.ars\">Samsung&#8217;s new Galaxy Tab Android slate<\/a>, but I&#8217;m afraid it may force me to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.engadget.com\/photos\/the-samsung-galaxy-tab-more-relief-on-the-go\/#3325648\">contact with the colleague for the urgent work during a cosy time<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/realestate.yahoo.com\/promo\/inside-the-glass-pavilion\">So much for lounging around the house in your ratty underwear<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Evidence continues to accumulate that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.msnbc.msn.com\/id\/38944299\/ns\/health-diet_and_nutrition\">the BMI is not only utterly useless, but in some areas misleading<\/a>. (It can&#8217;t even predict obesity.) There are better methods and just as simple. But like the &#8220;carbs good, fat bad&#8221; mantra, BMI just won&#8217;t go away, even if it&#8217;s contributing to early death.
