I&#8217;ve heard a lot of people having trouble with it as well, and <a href=\"http:\/\/perfprotector.blogspot.com\/2010\/08\/thunderbird-3-is-it-really-all-yours.html\">we are apparently not in the minority<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>How can I have lived the last ten years as an SF writer and never heard of <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/John_Titor\">John Titor, Time Traveler<\/a>?<\/li>\n<li>Stephen Hawking has told us that <a href=\"http:\/\/bigthink.com\/ideas\/21570\">we must abandon Earth or die<\/a>. Agreed. Now, Dr. Hawking, would you <em>please<\/em> invent us a hyperdrive already?<\/li>\n<li>No, bichons are not groomed <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gocomics.com\/features\/96\/feature_items\/533171?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed:+uclick\/looseparts+(Loose+Parts+-+GoComics.com)\">this way<\/a>. (That&#8217;s for miniature poodles.) Thanks to Jim Strickland for the link.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.zdnet.com\/blog\/microsoft\/microsofts-reartype-physical-keys-to-the-ipad-kindle-and-tablet-kingdoms\/7039?tag=nl.e589\">Microsoft is working on a tablet prototype with keys on the back surface<\/a>, opposite the display, so you can type with the fingers that you&#8217;re using to grip the device. (Thumbs remain on the front.) This looks better than it tells; do follow the link. Will it work? No opinion until I try it.<\/li>\n<li>If anyone here has not yet been to thereifixedit.com, <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.makezine.com\/archive\/2010\/08\/redneck_make_and_mend.html\">Go. There. Right. Now<\/a>. (Via Make.)<\/li>\n<li>Many people have sent me a link to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.city-journal.org\/2010\/20_3_snd-dietary-guidelines.html\">this item from <em>City Journal<\/em><\/a> , which may indicate that some sense is finally creeping into the nutrition world. Sugar and grains may be killing you. Meat, eggs, dairy, and animal fat are probably not. I&#8217;ve known this from my research for a long time. Now, to get the government to admit that they&#8217;ve been slowly killing their citizens for over 30 years&#8230;<\/li>\n<li>Not convinced? <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/idAFN0210830520100802\">Fructose seems to be the preferred sugar of cancer cells<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Still not convinced? <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/money\/2010\/08\/02\/2010-08-02_morrie_yohai_90_inventor_of_the_cheez_doodle_dies.html\">The inventor of Cheese Doodles just died at age 90<\/a>. So much for salt and fat being deadly. (The food dyes worry me more than either.)<\/li>\n<li>Pete Albrecht points out that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/business\/la-fi-cafe-wifi-20100808,0,2492467.story\">LA coffee shops are beginning to unplug their Wi-Fi access points<\/a> and plaster over all their wall outlets. They&#8217;ve found that people buy more coffee and snacks when they actually <em>talk<\/em> to one another. No shirt, Sherlock!<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.formufit.com\/\">Formufit<\/a>: PVC pipe fittings for when you&#8217;re not using PVC pipe for plumbing. Fine stuff!<\/li>\n<li>I think that what we&#8217;ll miss most about our deathwish-afflicted newspapers are <a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/2010\/07\/23\/the-most-obvious-headline_n_654436.html\">all the silly headlines<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>And anyone who has ever scratched his or her head over that famous if gappy Latin expression &#8220;Et in Arcadia ego&#8221; should look at the variations <a href=\"http:\/\/members.peak.org\/~kightp\/ego.html\">here<\/a>. (I find myself thinking of a paraphrase of another classic expression from junk mail: &#8220;You may already be in Arcadia!&#8221;)<\/li>\n<li>Heh.
