Click to it for the photos and videos.<\/li>\n<li>Runner-up, of course, is the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Fairchild_Republic_A-10_Thunderbolt_II\" target=\"_blank\">A-10 Warthog<\/a>, which is a lot more intimidating if you happen to be in its gunsights, in which case your ace (our ace, actually) kisses <em>you<\/em> goodbye.<\/li>\n<li>There are iceberg cowboys, and every now and then <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/scitech\/2010\/12\/23\/marine-biologist-finds-iceberg-archway-middle-ocean\/\" target=\"_blank\">they rope a really odd one<\/a>. (Thanks to Pete Albrecht for the link.)<\/li>\n<li>Pertinent to yesterday&#8217;s post, Pete also sends a link to <a href=\"http:\/\/cgi.ebay.com\/ws\/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&amp;hash=item5add54fa07&amp;item=390260390407&amp;nma=true&amp;pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&amp;rt=nc&amp;si=6QpjKy9Eu3qOB0BK36Fa6VnhBFc=\" target=\"_blank\">a toy Triceratops that apparently comes pre-shredded<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>This <a href=\"http:\/\/freakbits.com\/the-10-most-pirated-ebooks-of-2009-0831\" target=\"_blank\">list of the most-pirated ebooks of 2009<\/a> is now 18 months old, but it may still say something about your average ebook pirate: sex trumps almost eveything else, except possibly Photoshop.<\/li>\n<li>On a whim, I went up to the Pirate Bay just now, and discovered that, 18 months later, <a href=\"http:\/\/thepiratebay.org\/browse\/601\/0\/7\" target=\"_blank\">sex and Photoshop still trump everything else<\/a>, at least in terms of pirated ebooks. (And Photoshop is, by a factor of 2.5, the most popular Windows app on Pirate Bay.)<\/li>\n<li>The magazine guy in me mourns, but the magazine guy in me whispered that this was going to happen before it even started: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.engadget.com\/2010\/12\/29\/ipad-magazine-sales-numbers-show-steep-decline-over-a-few-short\/\" target=\"_blank\">Magazines sold in iPad versions started out strong but went into steep decline after a few months<\/a>. Read the comments: The electronic <em>Wired<\/em> is 5X more expensive than the paper one, which just maybe possibly might (d&#8217;ya think?) have a little tiny bit of something to do with it.<\/li>\n<li>As a book lover of long standing (read &#8217;em, write &#8217;em, publish &#8217;em) I declare <a href=\"http:\/\/gizmodo.com\/5720406\/turn-your-book-into-this-lamps-roof-and-save-your-spot\" target=\"_blank\">this little invention<\/a> freaking brilliant.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I was pleased to see this writeup on the XB-70 Valkyrie, which I consider the coolest and most intimidating aircraft ever created by any nation, anywhere, even though the article is lightweight and the author is unsure what a &#8220;ballistic missile&#8221; is.
